EXPANDED EDITIONS OF NIRVANA'S FIRST TWO ALBUMS INCLUDING MANY PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED TRACKS AND A WEALTH OF STUDIO RARITIES

Nirvana - Rainbow Chaser: the 1960s recordings (The Island Years) brings together the first 2 Nirvana albums (The Story Of Simon Simopath & All of Us) reissued in a 2CD package featuring 52 tracks with 27 previously unreleased outtakes, demos and alternative versions. 'Tiny Goddess' was a big favourite of John Peel's whilst French chanteuse Francoise Hardy had a hit throughout Europe with her version. There's the hit single 'Rainbow Chaser' (the ultimate Nirvana classic and a chart hit in the UK and throughout Europe & Scandinavia), alongside other delights such as 'All of Us', 'Trapeze', 'Satellite Jockey', 'Frankie The Great', 'Flashbulb', 'Life Ain't Easy', 'The Touchables' (which appeared in the 1968 20th Century Fox film of the same name -now regarded as a cult classic), 'You Can Try It' and many more. Special mention must be given to the Nirvana rarities compiler Philip Lloyd-Smee who has unearthed for this collection: 'Goodbye Baby Bunting' (an unreleased track from the first album recording sessions), 'Tiny Goddess' (Recorded at Olympic Studios in 1967, a year before the released version), 'Rainbow Chaser' (The original recording but without the phasing effects), 'Omnibus' (unissued finished track that was re-made as 'The Touchables' with different lyrics), 'City Of The South' (unissued track from the first album sessions) and 'The Touchables' (original version which features vocals by the actresses from the film but were never used). As an added bonus, there are 3 alt. takes from their third album (recorded for Island but released by Pye), Dedicated To Markos III, including the epic 'Love Suite' which was most famously sampled by DJ Shadow on his Entroducing album for the track 'Stem'. DJ Shadow's not the only famous fan of Nirvana's work - Salvador Dali, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Cliff and the Everly Brothers were admirers too.
