Ross Claiborne had never thought much about life after death. But when it happens to him, it is not like anything he could ever have imagined. He wakes up to find himself on a mysterious planet with two moons in the night sky. With him are a small group of men and women who have all died at the same time. It doesn't take long before they realize that the place to which they have gone is a violent, brutal world, torn by incessant war and ravaged by bands of marauders who roam the countryside wreaking death and destruction wherever they go. And some of the people who came with them turn out to be vicious bullies themselves, little better than the marauders. Ross and his two friends, Wendy Summerville and Gordon Brinker must learn to survive in this place and must solve the mystery of why they are there.
