If You Give Teachers What They Do Need: Southern Taiwan Kindergarten Teachers' Continuing Education Needs and Job Satisfaction

This book indicates the factors that affect kindergarten teachers' job satisfaction and dissatisfaction. Continuing education needs also play the important role that might increase the teachers? job satisfaction. Teachers should be encouraged to participate in continuing education programs, a rapidly developmenting field, in order to improve their professional abilities, practices and increase their job satisfaction. A more efficient kindergarten setting should focus on increasing teachers' job satisfaction and reduce their job dissatisfaction. In this book, kindergarten teachers are satisfied with the factors: increased responsibility, personal growth and professional development, domination of teaching materials and methods, achievement in teaching, recognition of accomplishment, and interpersonal relationship. Teachers' perceptions of job satisfaction and dissatisfaction differ based on whether they attend or do not attend continuing education programs. Teachers who attend continuing education for more than three years have greater job satisfaction than teachers who attend for fewer years.
