At the same time, Alex activated his own thrusters, trying to follow the Captain's path. His aim was dead on.
"I've got you!" he yelled.
The next moment passed in a flash, "Clever, but not quite."
The Captain caught Alex's arm midair and slammed him into the ground. The Shrieker's shoulder-mounted rockets simultaneously deployed and hammered Alex's mech into the sand. Alex threw out his hand and activated his reflection shield at low power; he had already taken extensive damage. The reflection shield caused an explosion that launched the Captain backward but then flickered and failed. Next thing Alex knew, he heard a sword slash, and then his vision was terminated. A female voice echoed through his ears, "Simulation terminated. You lost pilot."
Transcendence follows the story of Alex Vaye; a young man determined to become a mech pilot. After the AI wars nearly wiped out humanity, five factions arose to fill the void of government. Conflicting ideals soon led to war and new technologies, primarily mechs - Mechanized Exoskeleton Chassis and Hardware. The first galactic war formed the tenous reclamation line and gave rise to mercenaries and pirates. Now, with tensions on the rise again, Alex's skills are more valuable than ever. The fledgling pilot finds an unlikely family in the Shrieker mercenary corps and soon gets swept up in the winds of war the likes of which the galaxy had never seen. Who is friend? Who is foe? Join Alex as he finds out where he belongs.
