An American nightmare should be the sub-title of this book. In this book, Envy, a young, promising, intelligent female major goals in life was to get out of the ghetto and never be like her mother, dependent on a man. She vowed that she would have her own. She set her mind to work hard to get that magic ticket out of the ghetto, an education. Envy would live her American dream of having a house, car, a good husband and 2 children. Despite all her hard work to obtain that magic ticket, she found herself being entangled by the traps, snares, confusion, deception and destruction of the ghetto she thought she had left behind. After narrowly escaping her teen-age years she got bit by a poisonous snake, Lionel and suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome, her life spiraled out of control for over 40 years until the death of Lionel. This is a story of how Envy's trust and strength in the Lord, goal setting, and perseverance carried Envy back from some of the deepest and darkest valley's of her life.
