The Bread of Life

The Bread of Life is one of the best discourses in the life of Christ. It takes place outside of the town of Tiberias in the northern area of Galilee. It is given at the time of Passover which is a perfect display of bread being broken at the Seder meal. In this discourse, Jesus gives one of His most difficult teachings to the Jews, He says they must eat of the flesh of the Son of Man and drink of His blood in order to have eternal life. He continues to compare His life as the bread the Jews forefathers ate in the wilderness claiming they ate the manna come down from heaven and still died. If you eat of the Bread of Life you will not die but have eternal life. Then He makes a bold statement, "I am that bread of life [come down from heaven] he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst" [John 6:35]. Inside the pages of this book the reader will discover the rabbinical thoughts of the Old Testament concerning the Son of Man, the Bread of Life, the temple worship about these two things, and the teaching of Jesus on the two resurrections. It is set in a Bible Study format with questions for discussion at the end of each chapter. There are teacher's notes with the answers to each chapters questions and suggested discussion topics. The author's intention is to make this book as easy to study and an exciting opportunity to learn more of the theology behind John's revelation of the Christ. It is intended to be a helps book to the Gospel of John and a reader's daily devotional. The author encourages the reader to open their bibles to the chapters being discussed and let the Word of God permeate their Christian walk.
